Course Outline
An introductory Sexual Orientation Equality training workshop giving participants an overview and opportunity to discuss issues around Gender, Sexual Orientation and equality.
Aims
Sexual Orientation Equality training workshop participants will:
- Learn about the sexual orientations, including heterosexuals providing a historical context to the attitudes towards these differences
- Consider the extent of their own influence on sexual orientation equality and diversity issues
- Consider ways of minimising all forms of sexual orientation and gender discrimination in the workplace using the F.A.I.R Approach
Objectives
As a result of this Sexual Orientation Equality training participants will:
- Know what constitutes sexual orientation discrimination, within the organisation and society as a whole
- Be able to relate more confidently to people whose sexual orientation and experiences are different to their own
- Be able to recognise discrimination and know how to respond if they see or experience it
Participant Group
All staff should receive this Sexual Orientation Equality training.

Sexual Orientation Equality training workshops can include:
- Britain’s sexual orientation demographics
- Consideration of common perceptions of different sexual orientations and how they affect day-to-day interactions
- Discussions around discrimination and its various forms
- Consideration of inequalities in society
- Overview of legislation and how it relates to gender and sexual orientation
- How to resolve day-to-day issues using the F.A.I.R. approach
