Lindsay Leighton
Personal Profile

Lindsay Leighton is currently a world gold medallist with the UK outrigger canoeing team, gained at the World Sprint Championships New Zealand 2006. For many years Lindsay has been pro-active in promoting and competing in Disability Sports at all levels this includes wheelchair basketball, football and canoeing. Lindsay has been a key member in developing the North West Ability Counts Football League and used his experience in setting up the equivalent in the West Midlands.
Lindsay has used his knowledge and skills well, whilst working in a voluntary capacity with Staffordshire Police on crime reduction projects; Stoke City FC as the Disability Liaison Officer where he has contributed to policy and procedures, workshops and creating an awareness of issues relating to the disabled community. He is often invited to seminars and discussion forums around Staffordshire and the West Midlands where his contribution is greatly received.
With his enthused confidence and ability to communicate at all levels, Lindsay has been instrumental In moving the company forward by forming good working relationships with a wide range of organisations.
Through years of experience, Lindsay has acquired a wealth of knowledge on disability issues and is currently developing a variety of programmes around Disability Equality. Having a hands-on approach to training, Lindsay delivers his message with great passion and enthusiasm and with the future arrival of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights Oct 2007, in addition to disability equality Lindsay has familiarised himself with and delivers training programmes that cover all the other strands of diversity.
