Equality and Diversity for Managers
Course Outline
An Equality and Diversity training workshop for Managers at all levels, providing skills to manage, create awareness and to promote Equality and Diversity in the workplace.
Aims
Equality and Diversity for Managers workshop participants will:
- Consider our own biases, perspectives, values and beliefs
- Evaluate policies and practices against current legislative requirements
- Build an awareness of diversity within their remit and to create a culture that values and maintains this
- Gain knowledge through business tools psychological/social models to ensure that current and future equality development achieves equitable outcomes in the workplace
Objectives
As a result of this Equality and Diversity training participants will:
- Know how legislation applies to managerial functions and what their obligations and responsibilities are in the workplace
- Be able to recognise the types of things that might lead to discriminatory working practices
- Be able to recognise harassment and how to respond both effectively and professionally
- Develop a framework to monitor and assess against agreed targets, action plans etc
- Immediately address inappropriate and impermissible behaviour
Participant Group
Delegates who are managers who have people management responsibilities. They may also have a role in setting or influencing organisational strategy and policy.
Topics
Equality and Diversity workshops will include:
- Overview of UK and local cultural demographics
- How to draw on diversity in the workplace as a practical resource/advantage
- How to build diversity awareness into the mainstream of all decision making and practice in the workplace
- Legislation
- Assessing Behaviour
- The M.E.E.T. Model – proven practical tool used to build cultural competence in the workplace
