Equality and Diversity Training Programme
Course Outline
An introductory Equality and Diversity training workshop giving an overview and opportunity to discuss issues around equality and cultural diversity.
Aims
Equality and Diversity training workshop participants will:
- Learn about the cultural diversity, differences and similarities within the workplace
- Consider the extent of their own influence on equality and diversity issues
- Consider ways of minimising all forms of discrimination in the workplace using the F.A.I.R. Approach
Objectives
As a result of this Equality and Diversity training participants will:
- Know what constitutes individual discrimination, group and institutional discrimination within the organisation and society as a whole
- Appreciate the experiences and differences of various minority groups
- Be able to relate more confidently to people whose background and experiences are different to their own
- Be able to recognise discrimination and know how to respond if they see or experience it
Participant Group
All staff should receive this Equality and Diversity training.
Topics
Equality and Diversity training workshops can include:
- Overview of Britain’s diverse culture
- Consideration of common perceptions of different groups and how they affect day-to-day interactions
- Discussions around discrimination and its various forms
- Consideration of inequalities in society
- Overview of legislation and how it relates to a diverse workforce
- How to resolve day-to-day issues using the F.A.I.R. approach
