Age Equality Training Programme
Course Outline
An introductory Age Equality training workshop giving participants an overview and opportunity to discuss issues around age equality.
Aims
Age Equality training workshop participants will:
- Learn about age diversity, the differences and similarities within the workplace
- Consider the extent of their own influence on age equality and diversity issues
- Consider ways of minimising all forms of age discrimination in the workplace using the F.A.I.R Approach
Objectives
As a result of this Age Equality training participants will:
- Know what constitutes age discrimination, within the organisation and society as a whole
- Appreciate the experiences and differences of various age groups
- Be able to relate more confidently to people whose age and experiences are different to their own
- Be able to recognise discrimination and know how to respond using the F.A.I.R approach
Participant Group
All staff should receive this Age Equality training.
Topics
Age Equality training workshops can include:
- Overview of Britain’s aging population and other age related statistics
- Consideration of common perceptions of different age groups and how they affect day-to-day interactions
- Discussions around discrimination and its various forms
- Consideration of inequalities in society
- Overview of legislation and how it relates to age
- How to resolve day-to-day issues using the F.A.I.R. approach
